I was born in the city of Birmingham, an industrial English city about 150km north of London. My city is famous for having more canals than Venice. Birmingham is also famous for the Cadburys chocolate factory which was founded in 1824.

You can often smell the sweet smell of chocolate in the air around there, this to me is the smell of home.

My perfect day would start with scuba diving at sunrise. This is when the ocean comes alive! The colourful coral and abundant fish all around me is a heavenly experience. Then I would go for a hearty lunch in a quiet restaurant with my wife.

After that we'd drive up along the hillside and watch the sun set gently into the sea.

My favourite subjects at school were geography and art. As a child I was fascinated by a huge atlas my grandfather bought me. I would study the maps on each page, tracing the coastlines of each country with my fingers.

I also loved art at school and my art teacher was very encouraging. He gave me licence to create what I wished using any medium I wanted, this helped my imagination and artistic freedom to thrive

I am probably not a very observant person, because I often have a problem with determining what someone's hair color was, whether he had glasses, what he was wearing or what he was holding in his hands.

I remember more the feelings that the new person had on me, tone of voice, did it trust me? I remember situations in which I met someone his posture, the way he moves, talks to other people or on the phone.

Did someone smile and gesticulate during the conversation, or did they look in the eyes? My attention is drawn to unusual clothing accessories or unusual behavior.

First impressions certainly do count. When I meet someone for the first time their body language and posture is something I notice. A positive energy and a kind face give me confidence that this person is someone I am happy to meet.

If they have a nice outfit or well-fitted clothes this can also make a good impression. Lastly, I find that a person's choice in shoes says a lot about their personality so I notice this also.

My best friend was born just two months before me and we’ve been best friends ever since we were babies. My best friend is an honest and hardworking man with lots of integrity and a sharp sense of humor. He’s loyal, considerate and has a kind heart.

I talk with him every day on the phone and hope we’ll remain friends for the entirety of our lives.

I love to read and honestly wish that I spent more time doing it. I like to read thrillers and adventure stories. Reading nourishes the soul and feeds the imagination. It’s a unique way to exercise the mind and broaden thought.

My favourite fictional novel is called ‘Kafka on the Shore’, it’s about an old man who can actually talk to cats.

Since I was a young child I dreamt of travelling to remote and exotic places. Growing up in grey and rainswept England was not satisfying to me and I longed for the warm sun and tropical climate.

I’m astonished and grateful that today I live on the island of Bali and the dreams I had as a little boy became a reality.

I like to have a clean and tidy house, particular chores though I find it hard to motivate myself to do. I really dread doing ironing. I find it boring and very time consuming. My wife complains because I am also lazy to vacuum.

I need persuading to plug it in and get that job done. Overall though, I do my share of housework and like cooking and keeping things neat and tidy.

On rainy days, I like to sleep with the window open. I like how the rain rings on the window. I remember as a child at my grandmother in the countryside, I liked to sleep in the barn on the hay, especially in the rain.
